15th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Summit (OIC)

Introduction: The 15th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Summit (OIC) took place in Banjul, The Gambia, on May 4th and 5th, 2024. This significant event brought together leaders and delegates from member countries to discuss and address key issues facing the Islamic world.

Emergency Medical Services: One of the notable aspects of the summit was the presence of the state-of-the-art Mobile Caravan Clinic, operated by Sharab, stationed at the Banjul International Airport – Presidential Lounge. The clinic’s Emergency Medical Staff was on standby to provide emergency medical services, support, and potential evacuations if necessary throughout the summit.

During the two days of the summit, the medical team attended to several victims of severe heat exhaustion, dehydration, abdominal discomfort, headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. Despite the challenging conditions, there were no referrals to the hospital, highlighting the effectiveness of the medical team’s efforts in managing the medical needs of attendees.

Acknowledgment of Teamwork: The success of the medical services provided during the summit was attributed to the dedication and collaboration of various team members. Special recognition was given to the Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Nursing Department, Accounts, Procurement, Drivers, and all other individuals involved in making the event a success.

Partnership with OIC: Sharab expressed gratitude to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for partnering with them in ensuring the provision of quality emergency medical services during the summit. The partnership played a crucial role in supporting Sharab’s mission to deliver effective healthcare services, particularly in high-stress environments such as international summits.
